Day 3 – Favorite Male Anime Character Ever
I have a long mental list of male characters that I love, so again, this is a difficult decision to make. There are just a lot of them! My consolation now is the thought that even if I mention only one of them here, that doesn’t make me love the others any less. It just hurts me that I can’t talk about them. Anyway, the tricky part of this challenge for me is the word “ever”. It gives me the impression that I should have liked the character for a long time now. So, this is one of the characters I loved ever since I was young.
Li Syaoran (Cardcaptor Sakura & Tsubasa Chronicles)
Syaoran is my first ever anime crush. Of course, I saw him first in Cardcaptor Sakura. He may have been an arrogant brat at first, but he eventually grew to be an adorable dork. It was amusing seeing him ‘compete’ with Sakura for Yukito’s attention. But, of course, I enjoyed watching him get flustered as his feelings for Sakura developed. I love how he falls for Yamazaki’s lies. I love how he cares for May and for others. And he made a bear! He made a bear I doubt I will be able to make so beautifully! I’m just so excited for the Clear Card-hen’s developments.
And, yes, Syaoran is also one of the protagonists of Tsubasa Chronicles. I actually love him more there than in CCS. He is much more loving, caring, and protective (and, of course, mature, as he is older here than in CCS). I like how he’s more combat-ready, too! He is ready to go to great lengths just for Princess Sakura. After Tokyo Revelations, though, my heart was ripped apart. And it doesn’t help that until now, I haven’t read the manga, so I’m still confused with what’s happening. Someday, though, I’ll make time for it.
While I love a lot of male characters, the ones I considered to write about here before I decided to go for Syaoran are: Natsume Takashi (Natsume Yuujinchou), Sawamura Eijun (Diamond no Ace), Yoon (Akatsuki no Yona), Zen (Akagami no Shirayukihime), Kinomoto Fujitaka (CCS & TRC), Makunouchi Ippo (Hajime no Ippo), and Matsuoka Shun (Kimi to Boku). In the end, I decided to go with Syaoran because he’s one of the characters I loved the longest as well as one that I haven’t written about in this blog before. Same could be said about Fujitaka, but oh well.
I’m with you on Syaoran and while I liked him in Cardcaptors, I loved him in Tsubasa Chronicles. Thanks for sharing.

He’s got a much more interesting character in TRC! Thanks for dropping by, too! 🙂

He’s got so much love for her that he’ll do anything just to get those pieces of feathers! Got to have a lifetime partner as loving as that. Hahaha!

Aaah, Syaoran was one of my first crushes, you have such good taste 💕💕👌
You need to read to read the manga, because the anime didn’t answer anything. Be prepared for a twist that’ll implode your mind, a la Clamp ofc 😹

Hahaha! Thank you! Yes, I really need to read the manga ASAP. And maybe xxxHolic to get the whole of it, too!

Yes, TRC and Holic have to be read together for sure. Prepare for your kokoro to get hurt, because both are intense in feelings. I love Holic the most out of the two, but it’s because it has a creepier, more haunted vibe and deals with folklore 😹
Hope you enjoy them, I want to see your thoughts on them!
