Day 8 – Favorite Anime Couple
I love a lot of couples, but most of them are from manga series I read. I think I’ve watched more anime series without couples than ones that do have, so there’s only a few that come to mind.
Shirayuki and Zen Wistalia (Akagami no Shirayukihime)
Synopsis:
Shirayuki is a young woman born with unique apple-red hair. After catching word about her hair, Prince Rajin sends orders for her to become his concubine. With nowhere else to go, Shirayuki cuts her hair and escapes to a neighboring country. While traversing through the forests, she meets a young man, Zen, who helps her after she boldly cures his wounds. He soon, however, becomes poisoned by an apple meant for Shirayuki. What will happen to Shirayuki? What is Zen’s true character? A refreshing fantasy story between an optimistic heroine and a prince who constantly stays on her watch.
I’m sure we all now at least one rich-man-poor-woman story. Here, Zen is the “rich man”, being the prince, while Shirayuki is the “poor woman”, as she’s only a commoner. Though that is somehow an issue, it’s not really that big because they are both making effort so that they can meet eye-to-eye. Besides, they started off as friends, Shirayuki not even knowing anything about Zen at all, including his social status.
I love these two first and foremost because of their individual strong, capable characters. Then, they are really matched well together. Shirayuki does not falter just because of the difficulties of having Zen as her friend. She stands her ground and strives to be fit next to him. Zen, on the other hand, does his well to prove himself as a prince and is also creating ways to be with her.
It’s adorable to see their love unfold and to see them deal with their feelings. They acknowledge each other’s feelings and eventually became clear of what they want to do in order to be with one another by the end. Their love for each other is their motivation but they still does things for themselves as well as for other people. At times, they have to be away from each other for a long time, but it makes their love grow even stronger.
They respect the other’s decisions. They care for one another’s well-being. They trust each other. They love each other deeply. What more can I want? They’re a wonderful anime couple who shows a healthy relationship!
