I wanted to make a post about this one after it got updated but I got lazy. I still want to write about it, though, so I’m still doing this even if the hype died down already. This chapter will probably go down to the history of AkaYona as one of the most famous chapters.
The chapter starts with Yoon, Yona, and Hak feeding the beloved three dragons who still pretty weak unlike Zeno who recovered faster. It’s truly great that everybody’s getting better now. (Shin-ah’s so adorable I can’t even aaaahhhh)
Hak asks Yoon if it’s alright to leave the next day because he is meeting someone. Yoon informs him that Yona wants to take a bath, so he should stay while she does so as the dragons are not yet in the state to be on watch. I’m guessing Yoon still doesn’t want Zeno to push himself too hard so he wanted someone to accompany him.
Because Yona is trying not to bother Hak so much, she took a bath so fast that she was still wet when she put her clothes on again. (Ao is so adorable as he takes a bath there, too!) Of course, Hak will not let her get sick, thus that lovely panel on the left.
Then, Hak goes and Yona is left unable to speak what is on her mind. She doesn’t understand Hak yet she is afraid to ask, so Yona becomes gloomy. Jae-ha, who’s always observant especially when it comes to Yona, asks her to sit with him to share what her problem is.
It’s amusing how Yona is able to share it like that to them. Straight to the point! The trigger of her jealousy and feelings of wanting to let him go — Hak having a fiancée. Without that trigger, I guess Yona and Hak will continue to keep silent about their feelings, even for a little longer. At least now they are able to face this. Anyway, I really loved the Yoon and the guys’ reaction to her telling Hak that she’d give him his freedom.
They’re so adorable! What a huge reaction. I’m sure they don’t want to hear the same words from Yona, too. They understand what Hak feels especially because they know him. (They have such a beautiful friendship!) Then, Yoon makes Yona understand that what she said implied that he is unneeded.
Yona reflects and feels bad about it, but Kija immediately tells her that she only needs to speak of her true feelings since he’s sure Hak will understand. Jae-ha brings up the issue with the fiancée thing and suggests to ask Hak about it, too.
When she said that she’s afraid to ask about it, they get her to realize how important it is by emphasizing how their relationship will turn out if they wouldn’t talk about it.
Actually, the panels with these two as they were talking seriously to Yona kind of breaks my heart. I know that they’re concerned for Yona and wants to help her, but there’s something in their eyes. Like, they’re having their hearts broken, too.
Anyway, soon after, Hak arrives and they learn that he met with a band of merchants. Yona doesn’t dilly-dally and apologizes immediately. She admits to overhearing his conversations with the Wind tribe as well as that thing about Ayame.
Yoon and Jae-ha’s reactions are funny! Anyway, Yona confesses her true feelings. Even if she said she wants to give Hak his freedom, it’s all because of what she thought he would like. Deep down, though, she wants him to stay with her. After all that they went through, she learned how precious Hak’s existence is. She took him for granted when they were younger, but with the turn of events, his part on her life got bigger. Then it turned to this.
If I were Hak, I’d be frustrated, too! Hak may not be expressive with words, but he is clearly actively and passionately showing his feelings for Yona. Though she may have seen those as something Hak does just to fulfill his duty.
Hak already made this decision when he turned over the leadership of the Wind tribe to Tae-woo. He loves the Wind tribe, but now, Yona and the others are who he treasures the most. Especially Yona. It’s not because of duty that he accompanies her. Hak stays with her because he wants to. He decided to serve her.
But, of course, that doesn’t answer Yona’s concern about Ayame so she brings it up again. Hak clarifies that it’s only something Mundeok decided on his own and that Ayame has a lover. But Yona still thinks that he likes her and is rejected, so we got a fiery confession from the dark dragon.
Uhh. Yep. He didn’t really curse in Japanese but I suppose this gives the frustrated feels Hak has because YONA. JUST. DOESN’T. GET. IT. He had to spell it out for her to understand! It’s not the most romantic confession but it’s still full of passion.
Their facial expressions are hilarious! And this confession is mainly the reason why this chapter will be one of the most memorable chapters of AkaYona.
FINALLY, someone confessed! Their relationship may undergo some or a lot of changes from now on. Or maybe not. Depending on how things will turn out. But yes, at last, they may sort out their feelings because of this.
The cat is out of the bag so Hak may not need to hide so much of his feelings for her. She may finally see things at the proper perspective as well as understand Hak more because of this.
After this, it may be Yona’s turn. Or Yona may reflect about things yet again. Or the next major arc may finally start. If Yona will not be able to answer his confession (or at least give her thought on it), then there may be things that will happen to halt that. If I were to choose what I want, I’d like for them to sort out their feelings for each other then they may face their greater challenges.
I’m actually on the edge because of the thought of what Soo-won is planning to do. I’m also worried about Kan Tae-jun. I wonder what he will face after sending wrong signal just to mess with the supposed prepared attack against Xing.
Oh, here’s some of my beloved panels featuring Yoon and the Four Dragons:
This chapter shocked me to death!
I mean, I thought I was reading a fan fiction XD
Mei-san, this was too good to be true!
AHHHHH!!!!!

Your writing put the “feels” of that chapter in its proper perspective. Your fluffy language for the fluffy parts, and fierce language for the fierce parts gave as good of a visual as reading the manga. So unexpected to almost reread the chapter highlights like this. Well done.
