Day 19 – Most Epic Scene Ever
‘Most epic scene ever’, huh? This challenge continues to frustrate me because even if I’m comparing some series at times, I never really have that will to make some kind of numbered list. Anyway, I don’t have any choice so here it goes.
Dungeon Capturers and Household Vessels vs Medium (Magi: The Kingdom of Magic)
Magi: The Kingdom of Magic is the second season of Magi. It premiered during Fall 2013. The series is based on the recently finished manga written and illustrated by Ohtaka Shinobu.
Dispersed around the world, there are several bizarre labyrinths hiding incredible treasures within them. These mysterious places, known as “Dungeons,” are said to be the work of Magi, a class of rare magicians, who also help people build their empires by guiding them to a dungeon. Djinns, supernatural beings that rule over the labyrinths, grant successful conquerors access to their immense power and choose them as potential king candidates to rule the world.
Having spent life in isolation, Aladdin, a kind and young magician, is eager to explore the world upon finally leaving his home behind. He begins his journey only accompanied by his mentor Ugo—a djinn that Aladdin can summon with his flute. However, Aladdin soon becomes friends with the courageous Alibaba Saluja after causing the destruction of a local merchant’s supply cart. In order to pay for the damages, Alibaba suggests that they attempt to conquer the nearest dungeon, taking the first step in an epic adventure that will decide the fate of the world itself.
I’ve always liked scenes where a lot of different characters gather to defeat the antagonists of the stories and this is one of them. It’s on the season’s last episode.
(It starts on 2:18 mark.)
Before that scene, there’s a war going on among Magnostadt Academy, Reim Empire, and Kou Empire. However, because of the huge mass of black rukh collected in Magnostadt Academy, there comes the threat of history from the ‘other world’ repeating itself. As Aladdin is the only one who knows about the past world, it is up to him to lead the Djinn users, along with their household vessels, to join forces in order to stop Al-Thammen from succeeding.
It feels great to see the Ren siblings (sans Hakuryuu), Alibaba, and Muu working together. Most especially when Kouha and Alibaba, who have the same element power, work together. It’s touching to see the Ren siblings covering for each other. Kougyoku also gets angry after seeing Alibaba hurt. It’s just frustrating for me that Sinbad and his gang came late. (What, some main character kind of thing?) They’re not even complete, too.
By the way, another one I really wanted to write here is the ablution for Yukine in Noragami E09. That scene never fails to make my hair stand up (not just because of the red eyes being so disgusting). Kaji Yuki really outdid himself with his voice acting there, too!
