Day 25 – Saddest Anime Death
Maes Hughes’ death is definitely one of them. It’s most probably a given, too. But I’m going to talk about a different one here.
Kaya’s death (Akatsuki no Yona)
Recent deaths on AkaYona are also heartbreaking. But for now, I should focus on this one.
Kaya was a 17-year old lady who got an incurable disease. She was a sweet, helpful, and considerate person who secluded herself and pushed other people away so that they will not get infected by the same disease. Since she’s alone, no one calls her name, so she used third-person speech as a way to not forget it.
She helped Zeno when he collapsed. Kaya let him stay at her place, but when he got better, she wanted him to leave. But he refused. The days she lived with him were lively and fun. She cried tears of joy when Zeno proposed to her even with her illness slowly taking a toll on her body. Then, he continued to be by her side till she breathed her last.
It isn’t a gruesome death, but it’s still heartbreaking knowing that Zeno had to deal with hundred of years of longing for her.
Ugh yes Mei-san!
I cried so bad for this one, ugh.

Me, too! Though I feel like I prefer how the manga looks as it shows how Zeno is clutching on Kaya’s skeleton hands. </3

That sounds like such a tragic death. I could mention some of my choices, but I don’t want to spoil some anime series and movies.
