Mei’s List | Seven Pairs of Parents

The first love that people know are mostly from their parents. Anime/manga rarely show a lot of them, though. When they do, a lot of them are horrible or dead, though there are some loveable ones. I listed some notable pairs of parents for me since it’s still some time after Valentine’s day and it’s not just for young couples.

Kurumi and Kuniharu Saiki (Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan)

Well, they’re not the best parents. Or Kuniharu isn’t exactly the best father — he exploits his son’s powers at times. Doesn’t change the fact that he’s a hardworking father, though. (Even if his work is silly a lot of times.) Kurumi is a nice mother who is very much loved by her sons. They’re so in love with each other, too, that it’s amusing how Saiki’s kinda disgusted by them at times.

Gracia and Maes Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Just who in the world didn’t love them? Especially Hughes? They are adorable, little Alicia’s parents. Maes is known for being a doting father while Gracia is a mother who stayed strong for her daughter. They love each other very much, too, and it’s adorable!

Touko and Shigeru Fujiwara (Natsume Yuujinchou)

THESE. TWO. ARE. SO. LOVEABLE! They’re Takashi’s foster parents who love him very much. They are caring and understanding, too. It’s heartwarming to watch them as part of Takashi’s life, knowing that with them, he found home.

Sanae and Akio Furukawa (Clannad)

This is another adorable couple who are very protective and loving of their daughter Nagisa. It’s cute how Akio also eats Sanae’s bread even if they’re not good. I should check out After Story soon to see more of them.

Naoe and Reiichi Mihashi (Ookiku Furikabutte)

One of the things I love about Oofuri is that it shows the players’ families unlike other sports anime series. Naoe and Reiichi may not have the best example as they actually eloped after Reiichi’s father opposed to their relationship then Naoe got pregnant, they still became good parents and are able to raise the cute dork that is Mihashi Ren. They’re very supportive of his playing baseball, too, as it’s seen how they helped him build the place where he practices his pitches.

Kuronuma couple (Kimi ni Todoke)

This couple is just as kind and caring and cute like their daughter Sawako! There’s no mistaking that they raised her up well! It’s amusing how Mrs. Kuronuma is so supportive of Sawako’s love life, while Mr. Kuronuma is so proud and protective of her daughter, though they both have Sawako’s back no matter what she pursues.

Yuriko and Yutaka Gouda (Ore Monogatari!!)

They are Takeo’s parents who are both helpful and kind that it’s no wonder Takeo grew up to be like them, too. They are supportive of Takeo and Rinko, too, and it’s cute how they tried to impress her. It’s obvious how they are still very much in love with one another as 16 years after having Takeo, they had a cute daughter, too.

These are some of the amusing and likeable couple of parents who are there for some of our beloved characters and are very much in love with each other even after a lot of years. Enduring love is always sweet, after all.
