Howl x Sophie

Howl Jenkins Pendragon x Sophie Hatter (Howl’s Moving Castle)

This is actually one of the fan arts I drew in February. I guess I did a bunch of fan arts for various OTPs.

Anyhow, I love Howl’s Moving Castle. It’s the first Ghibli film that I watched and I enjoyed it so much because I love shows involving magic (though I don’t think I watch enough of them).

In the Ghibli film, the romance isn’t something major, so the development of their relationship isn’t so… smooth? At least for me. Nevertheless, I liked the movie overall.

When I discovered that Howl’s Moving Castle is actually adapted from a novel by Diana Wynne Jones, I immediately looked for it on major bookstores. I think I went back thrice to one of the branches of one major bookstore, asking if there’s a copy of it. The fourth time I went, it’s finally available!

I actually loved the novel more because there’s a lot more magic involved in it. I enjoyed imagining the scenarios. (I liked the seven-league boots!) Also, even if book!Howl is a bit more frustrating than movie!Howl (he’s just so much more dramatic and vain in the book), I liked how more satisfying his and Sophie’s relationship by the end is because of the development in their relationship. There’s actually more drama there, too. (Ahh, Miss Angorian and some other kind of curse.)

Writing this made me want to re-read the book. I should check out if the sequels are finally available when I get back to that bookstore, too.
